Keeping up the good work!

Following on from the great day at Millfield BE, I travelled up to Ascott under Wychwood for their last ever BE event - which is a huge shame as it was a great venue, well run & a super course.

It took me a little longer to get there than I had bargained for so I arrived with very little time to spare which left me a bit stressed as I hate being late for anything!  However, we did a nice dressage test with a disappointing break in the trot work to score a 32.8, the show jumping was going really well until the final fence where I think I cut the corner a little tighter than planned & had the fence down.  But I knew I wouldn't be too far off the placings if I went clear & inside the time cross country & I set out meaning business.  Bertha gave me a fab ride & although she was a little sticky to the first few fences, she really made me ride positively and we came home clear inside the time!

Being first to go in the section always means a long wait & as the scores went up, we were in 2nd for quite a while.  As the time rocked on to 6.45pm, there were still scores to go up but I was in 6th so I didn't dare leave to go home!  Thankfully, provisional results were announced just before 7pm & to my huge delight, we finished 10th!  What's more, that's 2 BE placings from 2 outings!  I've NEVER achieved that before!!

So the long drive home suddenly didn't feel quite so far & as I pulled into the yard at 10pm, I was still grinning!

Once again, consistent training & my new secret weapon of concentrating on one section at a time & working on riding the best I can at that moment, has paid off.  Am so looking forward to the next event!
