It's been a while ...

... following a brilliant couple of days at the National Show Jumping Championships, I headed off for a well earned family holiday where I preceeded to scare myself half to death by going Paragliding!  It was an experience I will never forget, although I'm in no hurry to do it again!  However, it did leave me with the feeling that actually, I can do ANYTHING!  And feeling like that I was really up to go eventing when I got home.  Sadly, my season was cut short as Bertha had an attack of 'Tying up' on my return which meant that I couldn't get her back in time for the final few events, so we finished 2016 with 3 runs at BE80(T) with 3 placings, so not a bad result!

The remainder of the year was spent bringing B back into work & working on getting Millie going and sorting out her behavioural issues once and for all.  After all Millie's treatment and physio and hours and hours and miles and miles of walking in hand since March, she had been given the all clear and pain free by my amazing physio, Libbie.  However, she was still being nappy on occassions and just before Christmas, we had a few intensive sessions with Margaret and we have not looked back!

2017 has started off on a really positive note.  Bertha & I prepared for our first event with some Combined Training placings, only to have our first, and second outings abandoned due to wet ground.  Millie has managed to get out to do some Dressage and Combined Training and win both!  Videos can be viewed on my YouTube Channel.  She still has a way to go but everything is SO much better - to be able to get through the test at all did bring tears to my eyes on one occassion!

It is all moving forwards with both horses.  Bertha & I ran at Port Eliot BE Horse Trials this weekend and came home with a 7th place, but more importantly, a sub 30 dressage & a double clear!  Although it was a massive hike to Cornwall, it was well worth it. A beautiful venue and the team had done an incredible job on the ground as the going was amazing, I will definitly be going back next year.  We are now aiming for Millfield BE in 2 weeks time.  Millie is going BS next weekend and hopefully soon another outing xc schooling.  It would be fantastic to get an ODE under our belt before the end of the season.  So watch this space .........
