Millie's First Win !!

Posted by: Julie - 06 Jul 2014 14:17

WOW!!  I can't remember the last time I won a dressage competition, let alone 2 on the same day!!  Last weekend, off the back of that huge 84% the weekend before, Millie & I went to Kingfisher & managed a 5th with 70% & a 2nd with 74%.  I was a little disappointed with her first test as she reverted to being tense - but I think that had a little bit to do with the fact I had to give her a huge boot to get her into the indoor school in the first place, nappy pony.  But in the second test she relaxed & went really well so I was very pleased with the result.

Today, we've been to another local riding club show at a bigger venue with lots going on.  I was there really early, just because I was ready & the boys had gone to Jack's swimming club championships.  So there was lots of time to chill & take in the surroundings - Millie, not me!

I think today she warmed up the best she's ever done & I almost gave myself too much time, but that's the first time that's happened.  It didn't help that they ran half an hour late.  Anyway, we went in & she got really spooky, don't know why the 2 plastic chairs infront of the judges car were there ... they didn't help.... so we started off tense & spooky but relaxed more as the test went on.  Needless to say I was a little disappointed so made the decision to do the 2nd test & am really glad I did as she was really rideable & at the end the judge got out of her car to ask how old Millie was & to tell me she thought she is going to be lovely ....

To get one First place was amazing, to get 2, well, I am over the moon!  Next on the list of Millie's things to do is jump schooling away from home ... that's later this week ...
